Farming is a family affair.

Welcome to our farm and we are happy to share our journey with you. This little farm is very special to our family and has been in the family since the late 1800s. We are located about 20 miles southwest of Birmingham, AL in the small town of McCalla. Our children are the 7th generation in our family to live and play on the farm. This land has served many jobs over the years including providing local timber, growing vegetables for the commissary at US Steel in the 1950s, housing to herds of cattle, and providing an outdoor refuge for our family to enjoy the outdoors. In 2020, we started a new journey of growing cut flowers on the land and now we are moving into commercial production for the spring of 2021.

Our farm is a small family-owned business, with Denson in charge of the growing operations and me in charge of planning the flowers, leading workshops, and working with our buyers. Our daughter and son, Olivia and Keller, spend hours at the farm enjoying the outdoors, learning about agriculture and just being kids. Denson’s parents and brother live on the property and also contribute to the operation. We named the farm Roy Crest Farms because the property sits up on a crest with a beautiful sloping view in both directions and our dream is to fill those hills with rows and rows of abundant blooms creating an enchanting experience for our visitors one day. Our hope is to allow you to share in an experience that is beautiful, joyful and sustaining.

This farm is truly a family affair, and we find some of our best moments together, walking among fields and harvesting row after row. We enjoy the simple pleasures of farm life, and our family is grateful for the time we spend together caring for these abundant blooms. We are happy to share our story with you.
